Alameda County Building Trades Council needs your solidarity support! Right now in Oakland, we are seeing an unprecedented construction boom in the private sector. Over a dozen towers are being currently built downtown. Unfortunately, the vast majority of these projects are not currently under a Project Labor Agreement and don’t have any labor standards. On each of these sites, the majority of the work is being performed by out-of-town non-Union contractors. Oaklanders are being robbed of apprenticeship opportunities. In an effort to shed light on this, we are asking all of our extended community to please come out on May Day (May 1st, 2019), International Workers’ Day, to our rally at 8:30am at Frank Ogawa/Oscar Grant Plaza right in front of Oakland City Hall. The Alameda County Labor Council joins in solidarity — Union Construction Jobs for Oaklanders! The rally will feature multiple speakers, including our labor ally, State Superintendent of Education Tony Thurmond. #oaklandunionstrong
