Dear Friends,
Last year I was elected Executive Secretary-Treasurer of the Alameda Labor Council – the first Latina to be elected to this position in the history of our Council.
Over the last 20 years, I have worked with labor unions and community organizations to advance economic opportunity, social justice, and immigrants’ rights; my new role allows me to do all of this and more.
As the Executive Secretary-Treasurer of our Council, I oversee our program to empower our union members and to see that our Affiliates’ agendas get moved forward. I am proud of the strong partnerships we have throughout Alameda County and we will use them to see that we elect more people to office who will join and champion our efforts. We will work tirelessly to see that legislation is passed locally, regionally, and at the state level to benefit the broadest band of workers so that we may all benefit from California’s and the Bay Area’s growing economy!
Join us on May 17th so we may get to know each other. You will learn more about where we succeeded in 2018 and so far this year, and hear about our plans for 2020! If you have not yet made your commitment, please do so now by clicking on our invitation below. I look forward to seeing you there!
In solidarity,
Liz Ortega-Toro
