Thanks to all for coming out to the Sunrise Strike Support for Unite HERE 2850 workers

For the last two weeks, our Unite HERE 2850 brothers and sisters have been on strike against the Oakland Marriott City Center as part of their national strike along with more than 8,000 Marriott workers from Hawaii, San Francisco, San Jose, San Diego, Seattle, Detroit and Boston.  Local 2850 represents East Bay’s hotel and restaurant workers union who is saying, “One job should be enough” — enough for workers at the richest and biggest hotel company in the world.  On October 11th, the affiliates of the Labor Council joined the workers for a sunrise strike at 6am.    Thanks to all the unions, elected officials and labor-endorsed candidates who came out!

We must keep the pressure up and continue supporting workers on strike at the Marriott.  Also, our affiliate, IUOE 39 just went out on strike at the Hilton Oakland Airport.  Check back for more information.

Please donate to the “Strike Fund” by sending your check made out to ALC Community Services Hardship Fund with “2850 Strike” in the memo line.  Send to the Alameda Labor Council at 7750 Parrdee Lane, Ste 110, Oakland, CA 94621.

Coming soon–check out our Photo Gallery for photos of the sunrise strike support!
